Analytics Consultants Circle

Running a one-person or small-team analytics practice is weirdly solitary work. You spend your days surrounded by clients, collaborators and Slack channels, and all your time is spent working on the delivery of client work.

You rarely if ever get time to think about whether you’re charging the right amount, whether you need to change-up how you’re presenting your services to the market, when to hire a contractor (or a permanent staff member), and project-specific stuff like whether that pesky scope creep is a problem or an opportunity.

It’s a lot to have to take on; I was in those shoes and while I found it an exciting place to be, it can also be a bit scary.

The Analytics Consultants Circle is a free, curated peer community for independent analytics practitioners and small agency operators, meeting monthly to talk honestly about the commercial and “business” side of consulting.

What happens in a session. Facilitated discussion, with a group of 6-10 people, usually the same crew each time. Someone might bring a live question (maybe a pricing decision, a difficult client situation, etc) and we all work through it together.

Who’s in the room. Practitioners and small agency operators from around the world, across two timezone cohorts (one for Europe and APAC, one for the Americas and Australasia). The group is deliberately curated to ensure everyone’s on the same broad journey.

It doesn’t cost anything. It’s free, but you’ll need to apply to join.

What it isn’t. It’s not a masterclass, a course, or a pitch. I convene and facilitate, but the Circle’s value comes from the participants as a whole, not from me.

If you’d rather think through your practice alongside peers than one-to-one, then this might well be worth a look!
